Merci, Nan!
Coucou Diane! You’ll love Provence and you are right to get in your steps before your visit. I love clafoutis! Jacques Pepin and his daughter co-wrote a bilingual cookbook that includes a traditional clafoutis recipe also. It’s a fun cookbook to have around for learning French whilst cooking with your English brain. Bon séjour 🙂
Bonjour Tina! May and September are really lovely low season times to be in France. I am sure you already know that May has lots of holidays, so just a word of caution as you make your way around the country. The Cider Trail sounds wonderful! I had the pleasure of drinking calvados at a friend’s wedding in Normandy and also some cider from Brittany. You will likely have a fabulous time drinking all of the delicious boissons offered to you. Bon séjour!
Bonjour Laurie! I think May is a beautiful time of year to be in France. You have a lot of options on what to see depending on which route you take from Paris to Nice. Are you traveling by car or plane or by train (maybe even bus)? Personally, I love Auvergne and the Pilat area near Lyon/St Etienne. If you have time to see the chaîne des Puys near Clermont-Ferrand, it is lovely. The soft hills in that part of France are quite bucolic and there are some wonderful hearty French foods to try (cassoulet, cantal cheese, faisselle, etc.). Otherwise you won’t lack for lovely scenery as you get closer to the French riviera. Enjoy!!
